Sarawak Braces For Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Until 1pm

Sarawak is expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas until 1pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia).

The affected areas include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Kapit and parts of Bintulu, namely Tatau and Sebauh.

METMalaysia said the warning was issued following indications of thunderstorms capable of producing rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres per hour, either occurring or expected to persist for more than an hour.

The department noted that thunderstorm warnings are short-term advisories, with each alert remaining valid for a period of not more than six hours from the time of issuance.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against possible flash floods, strong winds and reduced visibility on roads.
