The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will deploy 11,926 officers and personnel to maintain security and ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Johor state election.
Johor Police Chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said the deployment would be carried out in five phases throughout the election period, with manpower adjusted according to operational requirements.
“The deployment will be adjusted according to operational needs,” he said.
To strengthen security arrangements, the Johor police have also received additional support from units under the Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA), involving 54 officers and 701 personnel from the General Operations Force, Federal Reserve Unit, Air Unit and Marine Police Force.
For nomination day on June 27, a total of 4,832 officers and personnel will be deployed to oversee security and traffic management.
Throughout the campaign period, from after nomination day until 11.59pm on July 10, 3,903 personnel will monitor ceramah, political gatherings and other election-related activities.
On polling day, July 11, PDRM will deploy 11,814 officers and personnel statewide to assist the Election Commission and ensure voters can cast their ballots safely.
Ab Rahaman also warned that police would take firm action against any provocation, threats, incitement, fake news and 3R (race, religion and royalty) issues that could jeopardise public order during the election period.
Meanwhile, he said 12,710 police officers and personnel in Johor are eligible for early voting in the state election based on the electoral roll gazetted by the Election Commission as of May 31.
