PH Candidate Line-Up For Johor Polls To Be Revealed Monday

Pakatan Harapan (PH) is set to unveil its list of candidates for the Johor state election on Monday as the coalition intensifies efforts to secure enough seats to form the next state government.

Johor PKR chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the candidate line-up has been agreed upon by both the state and central PH leadership, with the announcement expected to be held in Bukit Gambir, Tangkak.

“The announcement of candidates has been agreed upon by the state and central PH. God willing, we will hold it in the north of Johor, possibly in Bukit Gambir, Tangkak,” she said.

Dr Zaliha said the northern Johor venue was chosen to build on growing support for PH following a series of programmes in the region that received encouraging public response.

She said candidate selection involved feedback from branch leaders to ensure those chosen understand local issues and have a proven record of service.

“We also include elements of professionals, young people, women and racial diversity so that there is balance in the team of candidates that are presented,” she said.

Dr Zaliha said the coalition’s goal in the election extends beyond improving its previous performance, stressing that PH is contesting with the aim of forming the Johor state government.

PH will contest all 56 state seats, with PKR fielding candidates in 20 constituencies, DAP in 17 and Amanah in 19.

The Johor state election is scheduled for July 11, with nomination day on June 27 and early voting on July 7.
