Students May Apply For RM17 Million Selangor Scholarship In Fields Like AI, Engineering

The Selangor State Government has allocated RM17 million under its scholarship programme to assist outstanding students pursuing higher education in strategic fields aligned with the state’s development priorities.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative was introduced to ensure talented Selangor students would not be prevented from continuing their studies due to financial constraints.

He said the scholarship would focus on key areas critical to future economic growth, including electrical and electronics, life sciences, artificial intelligence (AI), engineering and automation.

“The initiative ensures that Selangor children with potential are not left behind from pursuing higher education simply because of financial limitations,” Amirudin said.

He added that education plays an important role in strengthening individual opportunities and resilience, particularly amid economic challenges and global uncertainties.

“The impact of the current crisis has highlighted the importance of education in improving opportunities and building an individual’s resilience so that they are able to face any challenges or economic uncertainties,” he said.

Amirudin said investment in human capital was essential to preparing the younger generation for future industries, especially as Selangor continues to strengthen its position as a key economic hub.

The scholarship programme is expected to support the development of a skilled workforce capable of meeting growing demand in high-value sectors such as advanced technology, digital industries and manufacturing.

The state government’s move also aligns with efforts to nurture local talent and ensure Selangor remains competitive in attracting investment and driving innovation.
