Small Breaks, Long Shifts: Hospital Frontliners Receive On-Ground Support From NESCAFÉ

Between back-to-back shifts and continuous patient care, healthcare workers at Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) found brief moments of pause during a 30-hour on-ground initiative aimed at supporting hospital frontliners managing demanding schedules.

The effort saw NESCAFÉ setting up temporary refreshment points across key staff areas from June 11 to June 12, providing coffee and ready-to-drink beverages to doctors, nurses and support staff working round the clock.

More than 36,000 servings were distributed over the duration of the activation, which was structured around hospital shift patterns to reach staff during short breaks rather than interrupt ongoing clinical duties.

HSA, which handles high patient volumes daily, relies on a wide network of healthcare professionals working extended hours, many of whom operate with limited downtime as part of continuous care services.

Rather than a public-facing event, the initiative focused on staff spaces within the hospital, where personnel could briefly step away from clinical responsibilities before returning to their duties.

The programme forms part of a broader nationwide rollout engaging frontline communities in essential services, with further activations expected at other locations throughout the year.
