Iranian Foreign Minister Says Oil Export Waived, Blockade Lifted, And Assets Unfrozen

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that major progress had been achieved in negotiations, with Tehran securing waivers for oil and petrochemical exports, the lifting of a blockade, and the release of some frozen Iranian assets.

Araghchi said the developments followed discussions aimed at reducing tensions and establishing a framework for a broader agreement. The measures include easing restrictions affecting Iran’s energy exports and improving access to financial resources held abroad.

The announcement came as Iranian and US representatives continued talks in Switzerland, where both sides have been working towards a diplomatic arrangement covering economic and security issues.

Under the reported framework, restrictions on Iran’s oil sales would be eased through temporary waivers, allowing Tehran to resume energy exports and receive related revenues. The agreement also includes steps towards reopening commercial routes affected by recent tensions.

Iranian officials said access to some frozen assets would be restored as part of the process, although implementation details remain subject to further negotiations.

The developments have drawn attention from global energy markets, as Iran remains one of the world’s major oil producers. Analysts said any sustained easing of restrictions could influence global oil supply expectations and reduce pressure on energy markets.

However, both sides have indicated that outstanding issues would require further discussions before a final agreement is reached
