Nearly 30 years after Sarah McLachlan launched what would become the massively successful all-women touring festival, Rodrigo is starting a festival of her own. It’s called Daisy Chain Fields, and it features an all-women lineup.
“Truly never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all,” the three-time Grammy winner wrote on Instagram. “I’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years and i am so ecstatic its finally coming true!!”
Set to be showcasing on August 29th in Irvine, California, the festival will feature performances by Chappell Roan, Doechii, Katseye, Mitski, the Breeders, Die Spitz, Bikini Kill, Eli, Garbage, Quiet Light, Rachel Chinouriri, Not for Radio, and of course, Rodrigo herself.
McLachlan, Stevie Nicks and Karen O of The Yeah Yeahs are listed as special guests.
Speaking to Pitchfork, Rodrigo said she wants her festival based on the political, economic, and social struggles that are currently happening right now. “In, like, 2020 or something, it was really popular and cool for celebrities to talk about politics, and it’s not anymore. It’s not encouraged,” she said, while also noting a need for equitable lineups. “But that’s what the original Lilith Fair was about.”
In fact, Rodrigo was featured in the 2025 documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery, where she praised the original Lilith Fair: “Finding out that all of my favourite artists played at this event. I was in disbelief that I’d never heard of it before,” she shared enthusiastically.
“Women singer songwriters in the ’90s, they’re my northern stars,” Rodrigo said.
It then makes sense as to why half the line-up for Daisy Chain Fields are artists from the Riot Grrl era with feminists fresh from the second-wave era Bikini Kill, the Breeders, Die Spitz, and of course, Garbage.
Music is political after all, so the festival will also include nonprofit activations, educational resources, community art experiences, local vendors, fan pop-ups, and immersive installations designed to foster connection and engagement. According to their website, festival attendees will have opportunities to learn about and support organizations working across reproductive rights, maternal health, economic empowerment, domestic violence prevention, and gender equity.
Some of the organisations Daisy Chain Festival will be donating their proceeds to include Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center, and Planned Parenthood.
Now that’s a festival many can get behind. Tickets are available at their website here for purchase.
