Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (TERAJU) is stepping up efforts to strengthen Bumiputera participation in high-growth and high-value sectors through strategic industry collaborations and targeted business development initiatives in the Northern Corridor.
The agency recently organised TERAJU Aspirasi Outreach Pulau Pinang 2026, bringing together Bumiputera entrepreneurs, businesses and industry stakeholders from Penang, Kedah, Perlis and Perak to explore growth opportunities, financing access and capacity-building programmes.
Speaking at the event, TERAJU Chief Executive Officer Junady Nawawi said the agency remains committed to bringing economic empowerment opportunities directly to regional business communities.
He said collaborations with major industry players such as MMC Engineering Sdn Bhd and Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) would provide wider access to financing, market opportunities and business development support for Bumiputera companies.
As part of the programme, TERAJU introduced its strategic development initiatives, namely ASCEND, ENHANCE and XCELERATE, which are designed to help Bumiputera companies strengthen competitiveness and accelerate growth in high-growth and high-value sectors.
The agency also highlighted the Bumiputera Strategic Acquisition Fund (BSAF), an equity financing and facilitation initiative aimed at supporting strategic corporate exercises, including pre-IPO preparation, mergers and acquisitions.
A key highlight of the event was the exchange of Memorandums of Understanding with MMC Engineering and MRT Corp. The collaborations are intended to expand business opportunities for Bumiputera firms and registered contractors while strengthening their participation in national supply chains and infrastructure ecosystems.
The event also saw the presentation of funding support under the Bumiputera Expansion and Catalyst Fund (BECF) and Islamic Working Capital Financing Programme (i-WCPF) to selected Bumiputera companies.
Meanwhile, Universiti Malaysia Perlis received support under the Dana Pembangunan Usahawan Bumiputera programme for its Mushroom D4C community project, which has generated more than RM1.7 million in revenue through mushroom production and downstream product development.
