The Rapid KL Shah Alam Line recorded more than 60,000 passenger journeys on its first day of operations on June 29, 2026, signalling a strong start for the newly launched rail service.
According to Rapid KL, the total figure includes usage across the full Shah Alam Line network, comprising train services, feeder buses and Rapid KL On-Demand (ROD), which together provide first and last-mile connectivity across the corridor.
Of the total, 58,865 journeys were made via train services, while 3,319 journeys were recorded through supporting mobility services. This included 1,883 trips using feeder buses and 1,436 trips via the ROD service.
Rapid KL said the strong turnout reflects high demand for the new mobility option, particularly in the western Klang Valley corridor linking residential areas, employment hubs, educational institutions and commercial centres across Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang.
President and group chief executive officer of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, Amir Hamdan, said the response signals strong public acceptance of the new line.
“More than 60,000 journeys on the first day show that the community truly needs better public transport options in the western corridor of the Klang Valley. This is a very encouraging start. We will continue to monitor travel patterns, operational performance and user feedback to ensure the experience keeps improving as more people use the line,” he said.
Rapid KL has also deployed operational staff, station officers and Rapid Troopers across all stations on the Shah Alam Line to assist passengers with travel information and guide them on using station facilities as well as connecting to feeder buses and ROD services.
Free fares for all journeys on the Shah Alam Line and its feeder services will continue until July 31, 2026, allowing more users to experience the new network.
