Thin Wire Triggers Minor Explosion Sound On Kelana Jaya Line

Rapid KL has traced a minor explosion-like sound on the Kelana Jaya Line to a thin foreign wire that became entangled with the rail system’s power supply.

The incident occurred at 7.18pm on Tuesday when Train 57 was at Taman Jaya Station bound for Putra Heights.

As a safety precaution, the train was immediately withdrawn from service and passengers were safely transferred to another train at the next station. No injuries were reported, while services on the Kelana Jaya Line continued to operate as normal.

Initial inspections found no damage to the train, its components or the tracks between Universiti and Taman Jaya stations. Further checks carried out after operating hours also confirmed the infrastructure remained safe.

Rapid KL said investigations identified a melted thin wire, which was not part of the train or rail infrastructure, as the cause of the incident after it came into contact with the power supply system.

The operator said it is continuing its investigation and will implement preventive measures to avoid similar incidents, while advising commuters to check its official social media channels or the MyRapid PULSE app for service updates.
