JS-SEZ Master Plan Aligned To Launch During Leaders Retreat In Q4

The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) master plan is set to be strategically launched in the fourth quarter of 2026 during a Leaders’ Retreat between Malaysia and Singapore, as both governments move to formalise high-level coordination on the cross-border economic project.

The Ministry of Economy said the timing and format of the launch reflect the need to ensure policy alignment, implementation readiness and stronger investor confidence in the initiative, which spans both countries.

It added that the decision for the master plan to be introduced at the Leaders’ Retreat underscores direct engagement between the top leadership of Malaysia and Singapore, aimed at reinforcing bilateral commitment and strengthening international confidence in the project.

Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said progress of the JS-SEZ should be assessed based on tangible economic outcomes rather than the timing of document launches, noting that current investment trends indicate sustained confidence from both domestic and international investors in Johor.

He said the government will continue to strengthen coordination between the Johor state administration and implementing agencies to ensure the project remains structured and effectively delivered.
