A thunderstorm forecast across several states remains in effect until 6 pm today, with the Malaysian Meteorological Department warning of heavy rain, lightning and strong winds in multiple regions.
The warning, issued at 2:30 pm on Saturday, covers parts of Kedah, Perak, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Sarawak and Sabah, with unstable weather expected to persist through the late afternoon.
Affected areas in Kedah include Kota Setar, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda and Sik, while in Perak the warning applies to Manjung and Perak Tengah. On the east coast, Kemaman in Terengganu and Kuantan in Pahang are also under alert.
In the Klang Valley region, Hulu Langat in Selangor and Jelebu and Seremban in Negeri Sembilan are forecast to experience thunderstorms and heavy rain.
In East Malaysia, the warning covers Sarikei, Sibu and Mukah in Sarawak, as well as interior and west coast areas of Sabah including Keningau, Tambunan, Papar, Penampang and Kinabatangan in Sandakan.
The meteorological department advised that the storm conditions may cause flash floods, poor visibility and hazardous driving conditions in affected areas until the warning expires at 6 pm.
