Muar MP Compares Haaland To Norway’s Failure To Deliver Missiles To Malaysia

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has criticised Norway over the delayed delivery of missiles purchased by Malaysia, comparing the country’s reliability to football star Erling Haaland.

In a social media post, Syed Saddiq claimed Malaysia had paid RM600 million for the missile procurement, with delivery originally scheduled for March.

He alleged that Norway later informed Malaysia in April that the missiles could not be delivered as they had been prioritised for a “close ally”, despite a signed contract and payment having already been made.

“You signed a contract, took our money, yet now backstabbed us at the most crucial moment, putting our national sovereignty at risk,” he said.

Drawing on a football analogy, the former youth and sports minister said Norway may have “a world-class finisher” in Haaland, but accused the country of failing to honour its commitments.

“Norway has Haaland, a world-class finisher. But when it comes to fulfilling promises, they’re not a finisher but a world-class loser,” he said.

The post comes amid public discussion over the reported delay in the delivery of Malaysia’s missile procurement from Norway.
