Fortinet has appointed Luca Simonelli as Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific, tasking the cybersecurity veteran with leading the company’s regional sales organisation and growth strategy.
Based in Singapore, Simonelli will oversee Fortinet’s operations across Japan, North Asia and South Asia, which covers Southeast Asia, India and SAARC, Australia and New Zealand. His responsibilities include driving regional strategy, strengthening customer and partner relationships and expanding the company’s presence across the region.
The appointment comes as organisations across Asia Pacific accelerate digital transformation, adopt artificial intelligence and modernise critical infrastructure, increasing demand for cybersecurity solutions.
Simonelli brings more than 30 years of experience in cybersecurity, networking, secure access service edge (SASE), cloud security and managed services. He most recently held a senior leadership position at GCX Managed Services.
He also previously spent nearly eight years at Fortinet, where he led the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa business, and has held leadership roles across the cybersecurity, networking and managed services sectors.
Executive Vice President of International Sales Joe Sarno said Asia Pacific remains one of the world’s fastest-growing cybersecurity markets, adding that Simonelli’s experience and leadership would strengthen Fortinet’s position in the region.
“As customers continue to modernise their infrastructure and embrace AI, Fortinet is uniquely positioned to help them secure every part of their digital journey,” Simonelli said.
He holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Milan.
