Johor Early Ballot By Uniformed Personnel Sees 88% Turnout

More than 88% of eligible early voters had cast their ballots in the Johor state election as of 2pm on Tuesday, according to the Election Commission of Malaysia.

The commission said 18,258 of 20,607 eligible early voters, representing an 88.60% turnout, had fulfilled their voting responsibilities.

The figure comprised 10,788 police personnel, members of the General Operations Force (GOF) and their spouses, as well as 7,470 military personnel and their spouses.

A total of 64 polling centres opened simultaneously at 8am to facilitate voting by more than 20,000 registered early voters.

Polling centres are scheduled to close in stages between noon and 6pm, depending on their location and the number of registered voters.

The 16th Johor state election sees 172 candidates contesting 56 state seats, with polling for 2.7 million registered voters set for Saturday.
