Malaysia Firms Secure RM58 Million In South Korea Market Immersion Drive

Five Malaysian technology-focused companies generated more than RM58 million in potential sales during a three-day Market Immersion Programme to South Korea, underscoring growing demand for the country’s high-value, innovation-driven solutions in one of Asia’s most advanced economies.

The programme, jointly organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) under MARA’s Gate to Global Programme, took place in Seoul from June 29 to July 1 and connected Malaysian businesses with Korean corporations, technology firms and prospective partners through tailored business matching sessions, company visits and market engagement activities.

The mission was carried out under the strategic collaboration between MATRADE and MARA following the signing of a memorandum of understanding in November 2025 to strengthen the export readiness of Malaysian companies and accelerate their international expansion.

The participating companies represented Malaysia’s High Growth High Value sector, showcasing capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) safety inspection solutions, AI and software services, data centre technical evaluation, remotely operated vehicle services and smart mapping technologies.

Beyond generating RM58 million in sales, the programme enabled participants to gain first-hand market insights, build strategic business networks and identify long-term collaboration opportunities in South Korea.

MATRADE Chief Executive Officer Abu Bakar Yusof said South Korea continues to present strong opportunities for Malaysian companies offering innovative products and specialised services.

“Through our collaboration with MARA, we establish effective platforms for Malaysian businesses to engage directly with key industry players, expand their international networks and unlock new commercial opportunities,” he said.

He added that the programme’s outcome demonstrates Malaysian companies possess the expertise and innovative capabilities to compete in sophisticated overseas markets, with MATRADE committed to supporting their global expansion through strategic market access initiatives and business partnerships.

The South Korea mission reflects the continued collaboration between MATRADE and MARA to strengthen the international competitiveness of Malaysian businesses, with both agencies aiming to help more export-ready companies secure global partnerships and capture new export opportunities.
