TAMCO Partners Hoymiles To Improve The Accessibility Of Advanced Storage Technologies

Power infrastructure solutions provider TAMCO has partnered with global solar and energy storage innovator Hoymiles to improve access to advanced energy storage technologies, combining global battery expertise with local engineering capabilities to support Malaysia’s energy transition.

The strategic partnership will see TAMCO undertake the local assembly of Hoymiles’ artificial intelligence-enhanced 5MWh and 6MWh liquid-cooled utility-scale battery energy storage solutions (BESS) at its Shah Alam facility, marking a step towards strengthening Malaysia’s domestic capabilities in large-scale energy storage deployment.

Beyond local assembly, TAMCO and Hoymiles will explore technical knowledge exchange, specialist talent development and localisation initiatives to further strengthen Malaysia’s energy infrastructure ecosystem.

The collaboration will also expand TAMCO’s energy solutions portfolio while enabling greater local support for utility-scale BESS projects through system integration, testing, commissioning, servicing and long-term maintenance capabilities.

TAMCO Switchgear (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Wong Jun Pin said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s evolving energy landscape through stronger engineering expertise and innovative solutions.

“Our partnership with Hoymiles represents an important step in expanding the solutions we deliver while strengthening the engineering expertise and technical capabilities needed for the country’s future energy infrastructure,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hoymiles Chief Technology Officer and Vice President Dr Zhao Yi said the collaboration highlights the importance of combining advanced technologies with trusted local partners to deliver effective energy solutions.

He said TAMCO’s deep engineering expertise and understanding of Malaysia’s operating environment would help translate Hoymiles’ global experience into solutions that deliver value locally.

Commenting on the partnership, Malaysian Investment Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the collaboration demonstrates how global expertise can complement local industrial strengths.

He said partnerships such as this would deepen domestic supply chains, facilitate technology transfer and create high-value opportunities for local businesses and talent, supporting Malaysia’s industrial competitiveness.
