Johor Residents Receive RM485 Million In SARA Cash Aid In 2026

More than 942,000 recipients of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) in Johor received RM485 million in cash assistance from the federal government in 2026, alongside RM44 million distributed through the SARA Monthly assistance programme to help households manage essential expenses.

According to the Finance Ministry (MOF), the allocation forms part of the government’s efforts to ensure Johor residents continue to receive support amid the state’s rapid economic development and infrastructure expansion.

“Federal funds have also been channelled into key projects in Johor, including road upgrades in Johor Bahru, flood mitigation initiatives in Segamat, improvements at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, as well as vocational training programmes in Mersing and Pasir Gudang,” the ministry said.

Beyond investment and infrastructure growth, MOF said Johor’s development must also focus on ensuring communities benefit directly from economic progress.

Early signs of growth are already being felt, with local businesses reporting higher customer traffic and sales following increased movement from Singapore, creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs, workers and local communities.

The ministry emphasised that the upcoming Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link is expected to further accelerate economic activity when completed, reducing travel time between Johor Bahru and Singapore to about five minutes while improving cross-border mobility and boosting business opportunities for Johoreans.
