Govt Not Raising Retirement Age For Public Servants

The government has decided to maintain the mandatory retirement age for civil servants at 60, government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said.

Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, said the decision was made during the Cabinet meeting on July 8, following discussions on whether to revise the current retirement policy.

“The government has decided that there is no need to implement an increase in the retirement age at this time. Therefore, the retirement age for civil servants will remain at 60,” he said.

The decision means the existing retirement framework for public sector employees will continue unchanged, with no extension beyond the current mandatory retirement age introduced at this stage.
