Thailand has approved new investment projects worth nearly US$2 billion, led by major expansions from Nestle’s local unit and Thai Airways International, as the country continues efforts to attract industrial and technology investments.
The Board of Investment (BoI) approved the projects, which include Nestle Thailand’s US$689 million (23 billion baht) expansion of its Samut Prakan facilities to increase production capacity for instant coffee, mixed coffee and ready-to-drink coffee products.
Thai Airways also received approval for expansion projects worth US$430 million to lease eight passenger aircraft as the national carrier strengthens its fleet capacity.
In the technology sector, Japan-based Datasection Inc’s Thailand subsidiary, Datasection (Thailand) Co Ltd, will invest US$235 million (7.8 billion baht) to establish high-performance GPU server infrastructure for data hosting in Bangkok and Pathum Thani.
South Korea-based Donsan Group’s Thailand unit was also approved for an investment of US$80 million to manufacture copper-clad laminate and prepreg materials, which are key inputs used in printed circuit board production.
The latest approvals reflect Thailand’s push to expand investments in strategic industries, including food manufacturing, aviation, artificial intelligence infrastructure and electronics supply chains.
