Former Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was among the earliest voters at Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang Renggam today, casting his ballot at 8:33 am in the 16th Johor state election.
The incumbent Machap assemblyman arrived at the polling centre at 8:05 am and entered Stream 4 to cast his vote. Before voting, Onn Hafiz greeted and interacted with other voters waiting at the centre.
Seeking a second term in the Machap seat, Onn Hafiz, who is also Johor Barisan Nasional chairman, faces a straight fight against Pakatan Harapan candidate Nur Hafiz Roslan.
Speaking to reporters after casting his ballot, Onn Hafiz urged voters to turn out early to fulfil their democratic responsibility and ensure a smooth voting process.
Meanwhile, former education minister Dr Maszlee Malik arrived at SJK (C) Tuan Poon, Simpang Renggam, at 8:58 am to cast his vote in the five-cornered Puteri Wangsa contest. He is facing candidates from Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA), Barisan Nasional, Parti Bersama Malaysia and an independent candidate.
