Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to affect several states and areas nationwide until 6 pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The warning, issued at 3:30 pm, covers parts of Kedah including Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, as well as the whole of Penang.
In Perak, affected areas include Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta and Muallim, while in Kelantan, the affected districts are Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah and Gua Musang.
Several districts in Terengganu and Pahang are also expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds. These include Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Dungun in Terengganu, as well as Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera and Pekan in Pahang.
The alert also covers parts of Selangor, Johor’s Mersing district, Miri (Marudi) and Limbang in Sarawak, Sabah’s Interior areas of Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort, as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan.
MetMalaysia advised the public to remain alert as the warning remains in effect until 6 pm today.
