Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s 2026 Mooncake Collection introduces a collaboration with Malaysian fashion house Rizman Ruzaini, bringing together culinary craft and contemporary design for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival offering.
The collection pairs mooncakes from Shang Palace with keepsake packaging inspired by traditional festival motifs, including blooming peonies and Chinese coin symbols associated with prosperity and renewal.
Designed to be retained beyond the season, the boxes feature layered structures, textured finishes, and decorative details that emphasise both presentation and function.
The collaboration was unveiled through a showcase featuring Rizman Ruzaini’s 12-piece Lunar Collection, where fashion and hospitality came together through shared references to Asian culture and craftsmanship. The presentation explored how traditional festive expressions can be interpreted through a modern design perspective.
“Heritage becomes more meaningful when we allow it to evolve,” said Rizman Nordin and Ruzaini Jamil. “Our Lunar collection views Asian culture through a contemporary lens, making this partnership with Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s Mooncake Collection a natural fit. The Mid-Autumn Festival is ultimately about reunion, generosity, and sharing something beautiful with those around us.”
Complementing the visual presentation is the culinary selection from Shang Palace, led by Chinese Executive Chef Teng Kam Seng. The 2026 collection features nine baked mooncake flavours and four snowskin varieties, balancing traditional favourites with new interpretations.
Among the new additions are Toffee Butterscotch, which incorporates caramelised notes inspired by pastry techniques, and Matcha Strawberry, which pairs the earthy character of matcha with a lighter fruit-forward filling.
Traditional Flavours with Contemporary Variations
While the collection introduces new combinations, its baked mooncake selection remains rooted in familiar Mid-Autumn flavours. Classics include White Lotus Seed Paste, Lotus Seed Paste with Double Yolk and White Lotus Seed Paste with Yolk.
The range also features Red Bean Paste with 40-Year-Old Dried Tangerine Peel, where aged citrus peel adds depth to the filling, alongside Custard Lava with its smooth molten centre.
Other selections include Assorted Nuts and Sun-Dried Fruits, Pandan Lotus Seed Paste with Yolk, and Yuzu Lotus Seed Paste with Bird’s Nest, offering variations that draw from traditional Asian ingredients while introducing different flavour profiles.
For those who prefer snowskin mooncakes, the collection includes Matcha Strawberry, Musang King, Bird’s Nest and Coconut, and Black Sesame and Nutella. The selection spans flavours ranging from Malaysia’s signature durian to combinations built around roasted, fruity and chocolate notes.
Gift Sets Designed for Different Occasions
Beyond the mooncakes themselves, the collection extends into six gift sets designed for different festive exchanges, from family gatherings to corporate gifting.
The Moonlit Blossom Gift Set features four full-sized baked mooncakes presented in either a red rose or beige keepsake box, from RM43 per piece.
The Crimson Treasures Gift Set (RM358) houses four baked mooncakes in a berry-plum multi-tier box, featuring Red Bean Paste with 40-Year-Old Dried Tangerine Peel, Lotus Seed Paste with Double Yolk, White Lotus Seed Paste with Yolk and Custard Lava.

For larger celebrations, the Lunar Fortune Gift Set (RM488) offers eight full-sized baked mooncakes featuring a selection of classic and signature flavours.
The Lunar Blossom Collection expands the range with premium and smaller-format options. The Mini Baked Mooncakes (RM338) offer smaller portions, including flavours such as Custard Lava and Toffee Butterscotch.
Through its collaboration with Rizman Ruzaini, the collection reflects the evolving role of festive gifting, where design and presentation have become an integral part of how traditions are experienced. By combining Shang Palace’s culinary approach with contemporary visual elements, the collection offers a modern interpretation of the Mid-Autumn tradition while retaining its cultural significance.
