Singapore Shares Edge Lower At Open, UMS Climbs Nearly 3%

Singapore shares opened lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) falling 16.61 points, or 0.3%, to 5,510.11 in early trade.

As of 9.03am, 45.51 million securities worth S$169.92 million had changed hands on the Singapore Exchange (SGX).

Market breadth remained positive, with 86 counters advancing against 61 decliners.

Among actively watched blue chips, DBS traded at S$71.93, OCBC Bank stood at S$28.45, Singapore Airlines (SIA) was at S$7.68, Singapore Exchange (SGX) traded at S$23.59, while Yangzijiang Shipbuilding changed hands at S$3.89.

UMS emerged as one of the early gainers, rising S$0.07, or 2.73%, to S$2.63.

In the derivatives market, 14,910 contracts had been traded by early morning.

Among regional futures, the Nikkei 225 Index Futures (September 2026) stood at 67,435, while the FTSE China A50 Index Futures (July 2026) was quoted at 15,162. The MSCI Singapore Index Futures (July 2026) traded at 516.45.
