Sunway Healthcare Extends Putrajaya Hospital JV Agreement To September

Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd (SHH) has extended its heads of agreement with Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PjH) for the proposed joint venture to develop a multi-specialty tertiary private hospital in Putrajaya, giving both parties more time to finalise definitive agreements for the project.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing, SHH said the parties had entered into a Second Supplemental Heads of Agreement on July 22, extending the validity of the existing heads of agreement until Sept 30, 2026.

The proposed hospital, to be located in Precinct 7, Putrajaya, was previously identified as one of SHH’s key expansion projects in its prospectus dated Feb 27, 2026.

The extension follows an earlier agreement signed on March 17, 2026, which had already prolonged the heads of agreement from its original expiry date to July 22, 2026.

According to SHH, the latest extension will provide both parties with additional time to negotiate and conclude the definitive agreements governing the proposed joint venture.

Apart from the revised timeline, all other terms and conditions of the original heads of agreement, which was first signed on April 23, 2025, remain unchanged.

The proposed development involves the construction and leasing of a multi-specialty tertiary private hospital, expanding Sunway Healthcare’s presence in the Klang Valley and supporting the group’s strategy of growing its integrated healthcare network.

SHH said it will make further announcements should there be any material developments regarding the proposed joint venture, in accordance with regulatory requirements.

The Putrajaya project forms part of Sunway Healthcare’s longer-term expansion plans to increase its hospital capacity and strengthen access to specialist healthcare services in Malaysia’s administrative capital.
