Topvision Eye Specialist Berhad has disclosed that one of its wholly owned subsidiaries, Topvision Eye Specialist Centre (Setia Alam) Sdn Bhd, has been named as a defendant in a medical negligence lawsuit filed at the Shah Alam Sessions Court.
The ACE Market-listed eye care specialist said the suit was initiated by a patient has alleged negligence and breach of duty of care arising from cataract treatment and related medical procedures performed by ophthalmologist Dr Loo Voon Pei.
According to the company, the plaintiff consulted Dr Loo for treatment of cataracts and subsequently underwent several medical procedures and surgeries at Topvision Eye Specialist Centre (Setia Alam).
The lawsuit names Dr Loo as the first defendant and the Setia Alam specialist centre as the second defendant. The plaintiff alleges negligence and breach of duty of care against Dr Loo, while the clinic is being sued on the basis of alleged vicarious liability for the doctor’s conduct.
The legal action was filed on June 16, 2026, although Topvision said its subsidiary was only served with the writ of summons and statement of claim on July 16
Topvision noted that its Setia Alam subsidiary is not considered a major subsidiary under Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market Listing Requirements.
The board added that it does not expect the legal action to have any immediate material financial or operational impact on the group’s business.
