Bursa Malaysia ended lower on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) shedding 13.57 points, or 0.79 per cent, to close at 1,701.02 amid broad-based selling pressure.
The benchmark index traded between an intraday high of 1,710.80 and a low of 1,697.76.
The broader market was mostly weaker, with the FBM Emas Index declining 68.19 points, or 0.54 per cent, to 12,589.54. The FBM Shariah Index slipped 52.03 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 12,444.25, while the F4GBM Index eased 5.83 points, or 0.57 per cent, to 1,021.65.
In contrast, the FBM70 Index bucked the broader market trend, rising 23.48 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 17,890.83.
Among the most actively traded stocks, AIMAX was unchanged at 1.0 sen with 285.16 million shares traded, HHRG fell three sen to 15.0 sen, Zetrix slipped one sen to 70.0 sen, Aimflex lost one sen to 12.5 sen, while Trive Property Group gained 0.5 sen to 2.0 sen.
On the broader market, eSystems emerged as the top gainer, surging 44 sen to 55 sen, followed by United Plantations, which added 32 sen to RM33.42, and Allianz Malaysia, up 28 sen to RM21.24.
Malaysian Pacific Industries led the losers, falling RM1.10 to RM45.08, followed by Nestlé (Malaysia), which shed 58 sen to RM90.62, Hong Leong Bank, down 38 sen to RM21.98, Fraser & Neave Holdings, which declined 34 sen to RM28.30, and Press Metal Aluminium Holdings, lower by 19 sen at RM7.86.
