The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1%, and the S&P 500 added 0.8%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite also advanced 1% after a choppy week that sent the indexes lower.
Market sentiment got a lift over the weekend as the US and Iran paused fighting, raising hopes that peace negotiations could restart after two weeks of attacks. Oil prices tumbled over 5% amid renewed optimism about a path to end the war, with Brent crude futures trading near $91 a barrel at last check.
