Defensive Buying Lifts Bursa As KLCI Rebounds 3 Points

Bursa Malaysia rebounded on July 29 as selective buying of defensive stocks lifted the benchmark index after a volatile session.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 3.08 points, or 0.18%, to close at 1,715.56 from 1,712.48 on July 28. The index moved between 1,710.79 and 1,720.59 throughout the trading session on July 29.

The broader indices also ended in positive territory with the FBM 70 gaining 79.77 points, or 0.45%, to 17,981.63, the F4GBM added 2.40 points, or 0.23%, to 1,028.50, while the FBM Emas advanced 31.09 points, or 0.25%, to 12,672.81. The FBM Shariah also climbed 47.84 points, or 0.38%, to 12,505.37.

Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, rising 1.5 sen to 70.5 sen on 74.31 million shares, followed by Tanco Holdings Bhd, which slipped half a sen to 25.5 sen on 68.3 million shares, while Velesto Energy Bhd was unchanged at 24.5 sen with 49.25 million shares traded. The other top five actively traded counters include VS Industry Bhd, which gained 1.5 sen to 23.5 sen on 34.71 million shares, and HHRG Bhd, which fell half a sen to 13.5 sen on 32.27 million shares.

Total turnover rose to 2.96 billion shares worth RM2.48 billion compared to 2.94 billion shares valued at RM2.56 billion on July 28.
