Bursa Malaysia opened slightly lower on Thursday, with the benchmark FBM KLCI slipping 1.18 points, or 0.07%, to 1,714.38 as weakness in several key sectors offset gains in energy-related counters.
By 9.22am, the FBM KLCI had traded between 1,710.69 and 1,714.74.
The broader market was mixed. The FBM Emas Index fell 14.51 points, or 0.11%, to 12,658.30, while the FBM Top 100 Index eased 10.46 points to 12,496.71. The FBM Small Cap Index lost 16.15 points to 15,593.50 and the FBM ACE Index declined 15.47 points to 4,909.24.
Among sectoral indices, the Construction Index fell 0.34%, the Consumer Products and Services Index slipped 0.17% and the Financial Services 40 Index lost 0.32%. In contrast, the Energy Index gained 0.10%.
Actively traded stocks included AAGB, down one sen to RM1.05, GIIB at RM0.50, M&G, up one sen to RM0.28, VS, down one sen to RM0.225 and MAG, unchanged at RM0.165.
Among the day’s top gainers, Petronas Gas rose 14 sen to RM17.78, Penta advanced 12 sen to RM5.11, Hengyuan Refining gained five sen to RM1.47, IHH Healthcare added five sen to RM8.40 and Hibiscus Petroleum climbed four sen to RM1.98.
On the losing side, Malaysian Pacific Industries fell 20 sen to RM43.92, UMS Integration declined 19 sen to RM6.81, Chin Teck Plantations shed 14 sen to RM10.90, Nestlé Malaysia eased 10 sen to RM96.68 and Petronas Dagangan slipped 10 sen to RM19.02.
