MPI, United Plantations Lead Bursa Decliners As Market Breadth Weakens

Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) and United Plantations Bhd led Bursa Malaysia’s decliners on July 30 as losers outpaced gainers 581 to 411 amid lighter trading activity.

MPI fell RM1.12 to RM43 on 306,900 shares, while United Plantations dropped 30 sen to RM33.70 with 148,000 shares traded.

Chin Teck Plantations Bhd declined 22 sen to RM10.82, Ideal Capital Bhd lost 20 sen to RM3.80 and Batu Kawan Bhd eased 18 sen to RM21.

On the upside, Nestle (M) Bhd jumped RM2.72 to RM99.50 on 181,500 shares, while Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd advanced 60 sen to RM28. Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd climbed 44 sen to RM21.20, Allianz Malaysia Bhd gained 20 sen to RM21.20 and Westports Holdings Bhd added 17 sen to RM7 on 7.96 million shares.

Another 612 counters were unchanged, 1,173 untraded and 87 suspended as turnover fell to 2.49 billion shares worth RM2.25 billion from 2.96 billion shares valued at RM2.48 billion on July 29.
