Unitrade Returns To Profitability In FY2026, Disciplined Going Forward

Unitrade Industries Berhad released its Annual Report 2026 and Sustainability Report 2026 (“SR2026”) for the financial year ended 31 March 2026 (“FY2026”).

For FY2026 the group managed to return to the black with a profit after tax and non-controlling interests (“PATNCI”) of RM20.1 million, reversing a loss after tax and non-controlling interests (“LATNCI”) of RM15.1 million in the previous financial year (“FY2025”).

The turnaround was delivered on the back of improved pricing discipline, a more favourable product mix, tighter inventory management and stricter credit controls that reduced receivables impairment.

The impact of these measures was most evident at the gross profit level, where gross profit surged 49.1% year-on-year (“YoY”) to RM133.3 million even as revenue held broadly stable at RM1.77 billion (FY2025: RM1.76 billion), lifting gross profit margin to 7.6% from 5.1%. Net operating cash flow also increased to RM69.9 million, while cash and cash equivalents rose to RM106.3 million as at 31 March 2026.

The wholesale and distribution segment remained the Group’s largest revenue contributor, accounting for 52.5% or RM926.4 million of total revenue, representing an 8.6% increase YoY. Beyond its core business, Unitrade continued to scale its green businesses comprising metal recycling and renewable energy. The metal recycling segment contributed RM735.1 million in revenue and processed over 450,000 tonnes of ferrous and non-ferrous metals during FY2026.

The Group has recycling presence across both Peninsular and East Malaysia, strengthening its participation in the circular economy. Meanwhile, revenue from the renewable energy segment increased by 26.7% to RM56.5 million.

Group Managing Director of Unitrade, Mr. Nomis Sim Siang Leng said, “FY2026 marked a significant milestone for Unitrade as the Group returned to profitability following the deliberate initiatives put in place over the past 2 years. While operating environment remains uncertain, we believe we are better positioned to navigate these challenges than in previous years.”

“Looking ahead, we remain focused on strengthening our core wholesale distribution business while continuing to expand our green business portfolio of renewable energy and metal recycling,” Nomis added.

For FY2026, Unitrade has published its maiden stand-alone Sustainability Report, marking a milestone in the Group’s sustainability disclosure journey. The Group is also an early adopter of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (“ISSB”), under Malaysia’s National Sustainability Reporting Framework.

Moving into FY2027, the group remains cautiously optimistic, supported by ongoing infrastructure development and private investments in data centres, semiconductor facilities, industrial developments and logistics hubs. The Group will continue managing inventory, credit exposure, costs and working capital prudently while strengthening its core operations and green business portfolio.
