Malaysia Opens First Autonomous Vehicle Control Centre In Cyberjaya

Malaysia has launched its first dedicated Remote Operations Center (ROC) for autonomous logistics in Cyberjaya, strengthening efforts to test and develop Level 4 autonomous vehicles on public roads.

The facility, launched by Autonomous Logistic Solutions Sdn Bhd (ALS) in collaboration with the Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) and Cyberview Sdn Bhd, will serve as the command centre for autonomous vehicle trials along the 22km Cyberjaya Malaysia Autonomous Vehicle (MyAV) Route.

Approved by the Ministry of Transport (MoT), the route will support real-world testing of autonomous logistics vehicles in mixed traffic conditions, with trials expected to generate data to support future deployment and regulatory development.

The Remote Operations Centre will monitor autonomous vehicles through live video feeds, vehicle telemetry, route status and system diagnostics, providing an additional layer of safety during operations.

“Driverless doesn’t mean monitor-less. Every autonomous vehicle still requires human oversight to ensure the highest standards of safety, accountability, and operational reliability,” said Alan Chong, Managing Director of ALS.

The Level 4 Autonomous RoboVan is designed to perform the complete driving task within its approved operational environment, while trained operators at the ROC will maintain oversight and coordinate with ground support teams when required.

Sidec chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping said the facility would help build the infrastructure needed for responsible autonomous mobility adoption.

“A licence to test on public roads is only half the story — the other half is how you supervise it responsibly once it’s out there. That’s what this Remote Operations Center is for,” he said.

The Cyberjaya MyAV Route, Malaysia’s first dedicated public-road autonomous vehicle testbed, was introduced in 2020 with an initial 7km route before expanding to 22km in 2025.

The route now covers business districts, educational institutions, MRT stations, commercial centres, intersections and pedestrian crossings, allowing developers to test autonomous mobility technologies in varied urban environments.

Cyberview chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad said the initiative reflects Cyberjaya’s role as a platform for emerging technologies to move from concept testing into real-world applications.

“Cyberjaya’s strength is underpinned by an ecosystem that enables innovation to move from concepts into practical applications,” he said.

The latest trials will allow ALS and Sidec to evaluate autonomous vehicle performance in real-world scenarios, with findings expected to contribute towards future standards and regulatory frameworks for autonomous logistics in Malaysia.
