Several lanes along Jalan Kampung Relau and Jalan Tun Dr Awang will be closed periodically from tomorrow until Oct 15 to facilitate drainage and road widening works for the Penang Mutiara Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line project.
Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the partial lane closures will be in effect daily from 8am to 4pm.
The affected sections include the left-most lane in front of Penang International Commercial City (PICC) heading towards Bayan Lepas, the left-most lane in front of the Petron Bukit Jambul petrol station heading towards Komtar, and the left-most lane from the slip road connecting Jalan Tun Dr Awang to Jalan Kampung Relau up to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Nibong heading towards Komtar.
MRT Corp said the closures are required to allow preliminary works under the Mutiara LRT Line CMC1 package, involving the construction of drainage systems and road widening.
Despite the closures, the remaining lanes will remain open to ensure traffic continues to flow.
Motorists have been advised to follow traffic signs, comply with instructions from flagmen and exercise caution when travelling through the affected areas to ensure smooth traffic movement and safety.
