Sunway Construction Group Berhad (SunCon) has secured a RM1.02 billion contract from a United States-based multinational technology corporation to undertake mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out works for a data centre development in Johor.
The construction group said its wholly owned subsidiary, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB), accepted the Letter of Award on Aug. 3, with the project scheduled for completion by the fourth quarter of 2027.
The latest award further reinforces SunCon’s position as one of Malaysia’s leading contractors in the fast-growing data centre construction segment, driven by continued investments into Johor under the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and the state’s emergence as a regional digital infrastructure hub.
The Letter of Award also serves as the formal instruction for SCSB to commence works immediately.
With the latest contract, SunCon has secured RM5.8 billion worth of new jobs so far in the current financial year, lifting its outstanding order book to RM10.4 billion.
