MedPlanner Sdn. Bhd., the homegrown developer of AskHEMI, today announced a major update to the app, introducing Personalized Health Intelligence and Medication Reminders — two new features that transform AskHEMI into a companion that knows each user personally. The update is available now, free, for iOS and Android users in Malaysia and worldwide.
With Personalized Health Intelligence, AskHEMI learns each user’s health profile — their conditions, medications, lab results, allergies, and lifestyle — and draws on it every time they ask a question. A user can upload a lab report or prescription and AskHEMI reads it automatically, or ask whether a particular painkiller is safe to take and receive an answer based on their specific medications and conditions, not a one-size-fits-all response.
Meanwhile, the Medication Reminders feature helps users stay on top of their daily medications. They can set a schedule, receive reminders at the right times, and mark doses as taken or skipped with a single tap — then track their adherence over time through weekly and monthly charts.
Dr Ezam Mat Ali, Founder and CEO of MedPlanner, said, “We are thrilled to offer these new capabilities to users of AskHEMI. By adding greater intelligence to the app, every response is grounded in the user’s own health profile. This update sets us further apart from the many generic AI health apps available today.”
At its core, AskHEMI was built to solve a problem that every patient knows, which is the gap between one doctor’s appointment and the next. Questions arise, symptoms change, and medications run out, but the clinic is closed and the next appointment is weeks away. AskHEMI gives patients a trusted, clinically grounded resource available at any hour, ensuring that the guidance they receive does not end the moment they leave the consultation room.
“AskHEMI is a daily health companion, not just when questions arise, but every single day. Over time, as users engage with their own health data and get answers they can understand, they become more informed about their own bodies. That health literacy is one of the most powerful things we can give a patient,” Dr Ezam concluded.
Developed using HEMI (Health Medical Intelligence) AI clinical engine, based on multiple LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AskHEMI goes beyond text. It allows users to snap a photo using their phone camera or upload an image to get instant health insights, from a photograph of a skin condition, for instance, to understand what it might indicate and whether medical attention is needed. The app supports multiple languages, including Bahasa Malaysia, making it equally accessible to Malaysians and to users across different countries and communities. Unlike many health apps, AskHEMI is free to download and use for casual needs, with affordable plans at RM10 a month for regular access and RM40 for heavier use — because quality health guidance should be available to everyone, regardless of where they live or what they earn.
