Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has removed 323 bicycles linked to unlicensed rental operators during a special enforcement operation at Jalan Tembeling, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, recently.
The operation, carried out on July 23, targeted illegal bicycle rental activities and businesses that were operating without approval in the public recreational area.
DBKL said inspections found that the operators had left various adult and children’s bicycles, along with rental equipment, at public spaces around the park to provide easier access for visitors.
The practice resulted in obstructions along public walkways and affected the use of shared spaces within the recreational area.
DBKL also found several damaged and unusable bicycles abandoned at open areas, behind business premises and near public toilets without proper disposal.
During the operation, enforcement officers took action against five operators and seized 323 bicycles of various types. The items were transported to the DBKL Seizure Store for storage and further documentation.
DBKL said the action was carried out under the Kuala Lumpur Local Government Licensing of Hawkers By-Laws 2016 and the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.
The local authority added that similar enforcement operations would continue in public areas across the capital to address unlicensed activities and prevent obstructions.
