We’ve heard of the American Dream, but what of the Malaysian dream?
Acclaimed playwright Kee Thuan Chye does exactly that in his newest play, “Once Upon a Malaysian Dream”. According to the logline, “Once upon a time, there was a boy who lived in a land where the people were of different colours. When the land became independent after many years of rule by white foreigners, the boy dreamed that the people would come together and live and work in harmony so that the land would be fruitful and prosperous. He was resolved to do his part to make that happen, and to ensure that every person would have a place in the sun regardless of their colour.”
However, things changed once the boy grew up.
