Bursa, CGS Highlight On Ethical Investing As Islamic Capital Market Near RM2.75 Trillion

Bursa Malaysia Berhad and CGS International Securities Malaysia convened industry leaders, economists, Shariah experts and institutional investors at the seventh Invest Shariah Conference 2026, focusing on how ethical and Shariah-compliant investing can navigate an increasingly volatile and digital global economy.

The conference examined key issues influencing investment decisions, including geopolitical developments, inflation, portfolio allocation, digital transformation and the broader economic outlook. A central theme of the conference was translating Maqasid al-Shariah principles into practical capital market outcomes through responsible capital allocation, strong corporate governance and investments that generate sustainable economic and social value.

Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Fad’l Mohamed said Malaysia’s Islamic capital market had reached RM2.75 trillion in 2025, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the country’s overall capital market.

“Guided by Maqasid al-Shariah, we have an opportunity to direct capital towards innovation, sustainable infrastructure, economic resilience and inclusive growth, contributing to both financial value creation and positive outcomes for society,” he said.

He added that Bursa Malaysia would continue expanding access to Shariah-compliant investment opportunities while supporting the long-term development of Malaysia’s Islamic capital market.

CGS MY Chief Executive Officer Khairi Shahrin Arief Baki said investors today require disciplined investment frameworks supported by high-quality research to navigate an increasingly fragmented global landscape.

“Investors are navigating a highly fragmented and volatile global environment. They require clear, institutional-grade research, disciplined asset-allocation frameworks, and access to cross-border opportunities,” he said.

He noted that the conference brought together regulatory, economic, investment and Shariah perspectives to help investors better assess risks while identifying resilient investment opportunities within an ethical framework.

Digital transformation also featured prominently during the event, with discussions focusing on technology’s role in expanding access to Islamic finance and developing innovative Shariah-compliant investment solutions.

The conference concluded with macroeconomic and market outlook presentations by CGS MY’s institutional research team.
