MISC Bhd rose 2.22% at the time of writing after analysts maintained their positive outlook on the shipping group following its 10-year LNG carrier charter win.
MISC gained 18 sen to RM8.27, with 626,800 shares changing hands. The stock opened at RM8.08 and traded between RM8.08 and RM8.27 during the session.
The gains came after MISC secured a 10-year time charter from Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd for an 18,700-cubic metre LNG carrier, with operations expected to begin in 2028.
RHB Investment Bank Bhd (RHB Research) retained its BUY call with a target price of RM9.71, while MBSB Investment Bank Bhd (MBSB Research) also maintained BUY with a RM9.22 target.
The vessel will transport LNG from PETRONAS’ Bintulu complex to Sendai City, Japan, providing long-term earnings visibility while supporting MISC’s fleet rejuvenation.
MBSB Research estimates the vessel could generate RM36 million to RM47 million in annual revenue and RM7 million to RM12 million in annual net profit, although its contribution would account for only around 0.5% to 1% of MISC’s annual earnings.
RHB Research expects MISC’s Gas Assets & Solutions segment to become broadly comparable with its Petroleum business over the medium term, supported by 19 vessel additions and seven fully owned LNG carrier deliveries between 2026 and 2028.
