Farnborough Airshow Delivers RM791.54 Million In Export Sales For Malaysia

Malaysia generated RM791.54 million, or US$192.36 million, in export sales from its participation at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2026, strengthening the country’s position as a competitive aerospace manufacturing and supply-chain partner.

The five-day event in the UK facilitated 148 business meetings between Malaysian companies and international aerospace players through the Malaysia Pavilion, coordinated by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO).

Fifteen Malaysian exhibitors showcased capabilities spanning aerostructures, precision machining, aerospace finishing, electronics, manufacturing solutions, maintenance, repair and overhaul, aviation services and engineering.

MATRADE Chief Executive Officer Datuk Abu Bakar Yusof said the commercial results reflected growing global confidence in Malaysia’s aerospace capabilities and created opportunities for local companies to secure higher-value programmes and deepen partnerships with global original equipment manufacturers.

“FIA 2026 has reinforced global confidence in Malaysian aerospace capabilities, creating valuable opportunities for our companies to secure higher-value programmes, deepen partnerships with global OEMs and strengthen their position within international supply chains,” he said.

Malaysia’s aerospace industry generated RM32.5 billion in revenue in 2025, with exports contributing RM7.95 billion, or 24.5% of the total. The government is targeting RM55.2 billion in industry revenue under the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030.

The FIA also highlighted opportunities for Malaysian companies in advanced composites, precision machining, aerospace electronics, engine maintenance, next-generation propulsion and sustainable aviation technologies.

NAICO Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Ir Ts Dr Shamsul Kamar Abu Samah said the results demonstrated the increasing depth, readiness and maturity of Malaysia’s aerospace ecosystem as global manufacturers sought more resilient supply-chain partners.

MATRADE said its Virtual Malaysia Pavilion also attracted hundreds of company-profile visits and buyer engagements, extending business opportunities beyond the physical exhibition and providing international buyers with year-round access to Malaysian aerospace suppliers.
