Lufthansa Group has appointed The Walshe Group as its General Sales Agent (GSA) for Malaysia and Brunei, strengthening its sales presence ahead of the launch of a new nonstop Kuala Lumpur-Frankfurt service in October.
The appointment comes as Lufthansa prepares to introduce five weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt, operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The service will provide a direct connection between Malaysia and Germany while offering onward connections through Frankfurt to destinations across Europe.
The Walshe Group’s expanded role will cover trade engagement, account management, corporate and travel management company (TMC) relationships, consolidator partnerships and commercial development in Malaysia and Brunei.
It will also support the Kuala Lumpur-Frankfurt launch and promote Lufthansa Group’s wider European network, with a new Account Manager set to lead the local sales team.
The appointment expands a relationship between The Walshe Group and Lufthansa Group that has spanned 28 years in Australia and New Zealand, while extending the partnership into Southeast Asia.
The Walshe Group CEO and Managing Director Jacqui Walshe said the company sees an opportunity to support Lufthansa Group’s expansion through local expertise and closer coordination between its Australian and Malaysian operations.
“This is an exciting opportunity to create a regional sales solution for such a valued long-term customer,” said Walshe.
“As Lufthansa Group prepares to launch services between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt, we see a strong opportunity to support the market with local expertise, regional consistency and close alignment across Australia and Malaysia.”
