Nine areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 6am today, with air quality deteriorating across several parts of the state.
Based on readings from the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Serian recorded the highest API reading at 176, followed by Kuching at 160, Samarahan at 158, Sibu and Sri Aman at 156 each.
Other areas recording unhealthy readings were Sarikei at 155, Mukah at 154, Bintulu at 145 and Samalaju at 120.
Four other monitoring stations recorded moderate readings, namely Miri at 95, ILP Miri at 91, Limbang at 81 and Kapit at 73.
The latest readings indicate that air quality in several parts of Sarawak has deteriorated compared with previous days.
