ITMAX Secures RM134 Million KK Smart City Project Awarded By MCMC

ITMAX System Berhad has been appointed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) as the universal service provider for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of communications infrastructure and digital connectivity for the Kota Kinabalu Smart City Project.

The company said it accepted MCMC’s Notification of Approval on 10 August 2026, dated 6 August 2026, for the project with an approved cost of RM134.3 million.

The total service period will span up to seven years, comprising an implementation period of up to 24 months followed by a five-year operational period. The service period commenced on 6 August 2026.

Under the project, ITMAX will be responsible for the design, supply, installation, integration, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the Network Operation Command Centre and Smart Systems to be deployed across Kota Kinabalu city.

The project is expected to strengthen ITMAX’s presence in smart city infrastructure and digital connectivity, while providing the group with a longer-term stream of operational and maintenance activities following the implementation phase.
