Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) for July 2026 stood at 116.8, remaining in optimistic territory with an index value above 100. “Bank Indonesia’s Consumer Survey for July 2026 indicates that consumer confidence regarding economic conditions remains resilient
Indonesia’s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) continued its downward trajectory in Jul-26, falling for the third consecutive month to 116.8 from 117.8 in Jun-26 and marking its lowest level since Apr-25.
The moderation was primarily anchored by a weakening assessment of current economic conditions, which dropped by -1.3 points to 107.9. Household appetite for durable goods also weakened, falling -1.8 points to 104.1, while six-month retrospective job availability perceptions eased -0.7 points to 101.1.
Looking ahead, forward-looking components also softened, with expectations for job availability and business activity contracting by -1.3 points (to 123.1) and -0.8 points (to 120.4), respectively, though income expectations remained unchanged at 133.6. Despite the broad-based cooling, the headline reading remains comfortably above the 100-point threshold, signaling that overall private sentiment stays firmly in expansionary territory.
For BI, three consecutive months of falling consumer sentiment signal clear downside risks to domestic demand. Softening durable goods spending and weaker employment perceptions show that elevated rates dampen household activity. While rupiah stability remains a priority, MBSB notes that cooling consumer momentum effectively rules out further tightening by BI, with emphasis towards protecting domestic growth.
