Scheduled aircraft take-offs and landings at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will be temporarily suspended during several periods from Aug 26 to 29 and on Aug 31 to facilitate rehearsals and the National Day Flypast 2026.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said the temporary airspace closures will take place within the Kuala Lumpur Terminal Control Area to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the rehearsals and flypast.
The closures will affect KLIA flight movements during the following periods:
- Aug 26-28: 8.45am to 9.45am, rehearsals
- Aug 29: 11am to noon, full rehearsal
- Aug 31: 8.45am to 9.45am, National Day Flypast
CAAM said passengers travelling through KLIA during these periods should check the latest flight status and schedules directly with their respective airlines as some flights may be rescheduled or otherwise affected by the temporary suspension of aircraft movements.
The authority also said the public may notice increased aircraft activity associated with the National Day Flypast and its rehearsals.
At the same time, all drone or unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operations will be strictly prohibited within the affected areas during the rehearsals and flypast.
CAAM warned that unauthorised drone operations pose a serious safety risk, particularly to aircraft operating at lower altitudes, and could result in enforcement action under the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
The authority said the temporary measures are necessary to safeguard the safety, security and efficiency of Malaysia’s airspace while allowing the National Day Flypast to be conducted safely.
