Malaysia’s natural rubber (NR) production rose 31.5% month-on-month to 26,553 tonnes in June 2026, from 20,198 tonnes in May, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
On a year-on-year basis, NR production increased marginally by 1.2% from 26,249 tonnes recorded in June 2025.
Smallholders remained the dominant source of production, accounting for 88.7% of Malaysia’s NR output in June, while estates contributed the remaining 11.3%.
DOSM said total NR stocks increased 5.2% month-on-month to 129,524 tonnes in June from 123,149 tonnes in May.
Rubber processors’ factories accounted for the bulk of stocks at 77.8%, followed by rubber consumers’ factories at 22.1% and rubber estates at 0.1%.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s NR exports surged 35.2% month-on-month to 38,862 tonnes in June from 28,742 tonnes previously.
China remained Malaysia’s largest export destination, accounting for 55.8% of total NR exports, followed by Germany at 11.5%, the United States at 6.7%, Türkiye at 3.1% and India at 3.1%.
DOSM said export performance was supported by NR-based products including rubber gloves, tyres, tubes and rubber thread.
Rubber gloves remained the largest contributor among rubber-based products, with exports valued at RM1.4 billion in June, up 19.7% from RM1.2 billion in May.
Rubber prices showed mixed movements during the month.
The average monthly price of concentrated latex declined 3.6% to 735.82 sen per kilogram in June from 763.16 sen per kg in May.
In contrast, the average price of scrap rubber increased 6% to 792.76 sen per kg, from 747.78 sen per kg previously.
International rubber prices also strengthened during the month.
According to World Bank Commodity Price Data, the price of Technically Specified Rubber (TSR 20) rose 1.8% to US$2.25 per kg in June from US$2.21 per kg in May.
The Singapore/Malaysia (SGP/MYS) rubber price increased by 6.3% to US$2.86 per kg, from US$2.69 per kg previously.
Despite the strong monthly rebound, Malaysia’s NR production remained weaker on a quarterly basis.
DOSM said production in the second quarter of 2026 stood at 65,266 tonnes, down 8.1% from 71,013 tonnes in the preceding quarter.
Year-on-year, second-quarter production declined 4.7% from 68,513 tonnes recorded in the second quarter of 2025.
