Singapore shares opened lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) falling 22.72 points or 0.4% to 5,698.03 as of 9:05am.
Market breadth was mixed, with 117 advancers against 82 decliners. Trading volume stood at 117.25 million shares with a total value of S$269.15 million.
Among active counters, DBS fell 18 cents or 0.24% to S$75.67 while YZJ Shipbuilding, Singtel, AEM, OCBC Bank, City Developments and UOB were also among stocks on the market.
The STI tracks the performance of the 30 largest companies listed on the Singapore Exchange by market capitalisation.
In the derivatives market, trading volume stood at 13.79 thousand contracts as of 8:51am.
The FTSE China A50 Index Futures for August stood at 14,984 while Nikkei 225 Index Futures for September was at 68,525. SGX FTSE Taiwan Index Futures for August stood at 24,017.50.
Meanwhile, USD/SGD Futures for August was quoted at 1.2788 while USD/CNH Futures for September stood at 6.7308.
