Maxis Berhad reported a stronger financial performance for the second quarter ended 30 June 2026, with profit after tax (PAT) rising 9.5% year-on-year (YoY) to RM436 million, supported by steady growth across its core businesses.
The telecommunications group said service revenue increased 2.2% YoY to RM2.25 billion, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) grew 2.7% to RM1.12 billion.
Operating free cash flow also improved to RM991 million, reflecting continued cash generation from the group’s operations.
Maxis invested RM171 million in capital expenditure during the quarter, primarily to expand fibre coverage, increase network capacity and enhance service reliability as it continues to strengthen its integrated network infrastructure.
Maxis’ Consumer segment continued to benefit from its strategy of integrating mobile and fibre offerings, supported by refreshed plans and data propositions.
Consumer Mobile service revenue grew 2.7% YoY to RM1.58 billion, driven by new postpaid and prepaid plans.
The company’s total mobile subscriber base increased 1.7% YoY to 9.98 million, with growth led by sustained expansion in postpaid subscribers.
The Consumer Home business, meanwhile, recorded a 3.2% YoY increase in subscriptions to 813,000, as Maxis’ converged mobile-fibre bundles continued to strengthen customer retention and loyalty.
Despite this subscriber growth, Consumer Home service revenue declined 0.8% YoY to RM252 million. However, the segment recorded a 5% improvement in margin, reflecting better operational efficiency and the benefits of its converged offerings.
Maxis’ Enterprise business also maintained its growth momentum, with service revenue increasing 2.2% YoY to RM416 million.
The segment’s performance was supported by its Fixed & Solutions portfolio, particularly managed services, cloud connectivity and digital solutions.
The company said the growth reinforced its role as a digital infrastructure and connectivity partner for Malaysian businesses as enterprises increasingly adopt cloud and other digital technologies.
Maxis said it remains focused on investing strategically in its network and digital infrastructure to support long-term growth.
The RM171 million quarterly capital expenditure was directed towards expanding fibre coverage, upgrading network capacity and improving service reliability.
