6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Struck Near Sulawesi, No Tsunami Warning Issued

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck near the Minahasa Peninsula in Sulawesi, Indonesia, today, with tremors felt in parts of Sabah.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres, with its epicentre located about 116 kilometres north-north-west of Palu, Indonesia.

Tremors were reported in Tawau, Lahad Datu and Semporna, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

MetMalaysia stated there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia following the earthquake.The department is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue further information if there are any developments.
